Korteknie Stuhlmacher Architecten is opgericht in 2001 door Rien Korteknie en Mechthild Stuhlmacher. Het bureau is gevestigd in Rotterdam, bestaat uit een internationaal team van architecten en werkt aan bouw- en onderzoeksprojecten op het gebied van utiliteits- en woningbouw voor professionele en particuliere opdrachtgevers. De samenwerking van de architecten begon tijdens hun studie in Delft. Vanaf 1999 namen ze het initiatief voor het bouw- en tentoonstellingsproject Parasites en richtten ze de Stichting Parasite Foundation op, een organisatie die zich inzet voor hoogwaardige tijdeljke architectuur.

Mechthild Stuhlmacher werd in Duitsland geboren in 1963, studeerde muziek en architectuur in Duitsland en Nederland, studeerde af aan de TU in Delft in 1992 en werkte vervolgens op verschillende bureaus in Nederland en Engeland. Ze is redactielid van het architectuurtijdschrift OASE en het architectuurjaarboek Vlaanderen. Hiernaast is ze als docente verbonden aan de TU Delft, geeft regelmatig workshops en lezingen in het binnen- en buitenland en werkt mee aan diverse publicatieprojecten. Vanaf 2010 maakt ze deel uit van de welstandscommissie Rotterdam.

Rien Korteknie werd in Nederland geboren in 1961, studeerde Beeldende Kunst en architectuur, studeerde af aan de TU in Delft in 1992 en werkte vervolgens voor verschillende, internationaal opererende bureaus in Nederland. Hij is betrokken bij diverse onderzoeks-, bouw- en tentoonstellingsprojecten zoals ‘Wimby!’, het project ‘schoolParasites’ en ‘Stichting Mevrouw Meijer’ (onderzoeks- en adviesorganisatie over onderwijshuisvesting). Hiernaast is hij als gastdocent verbonden aan de TU Delft en aan verschillende Academies van Bouwkunst en geeft regelmatig lezingen in Nederland.

Korteknie Stuhlmacher Architecten was established in 2001 by Mechthild Stuhlmacher and Rien Korteknie, an architectural practice concerned with building- and researchprojects for public and private clients. The collaboration of the architecs began during their university years in Delft. They initiated and organised the travelling exhibition 'Parasites' from 1999 onwards and are founding members of the Parasite Foundation, an organisation which focuses on high-quality temporary building.

Mechthild Stuhlmacher was born in Germany in 1963. She studied music and architecture in Germany and the Netherlands, graduated in 1992 and worked at various offices in the Netherlands and the UK from 1992. She is a member of the editorial team of the magazine OASE, the architecture yearbook of Flanders and is involved in various other publication projects. She teaches architectural design at Delft University of Technology and has been regularly invited for lectures and workshops in the Netherlands and abroad. From 2010 she is a member of the Welstandscommissie in Rotterdam.

Rien Korteknie was born in The Netherlands in 1961. He studied Fine Arts and architecture at Delft University of Technology, graduated in 1992 and worked for various internationally operating architecture offices in The Netherlands. He is involved in various research-, building- and exhibition projects such as ‘Wimby!’, the project ‘schoolParasites’ and the Foundation ‘Mevrouw Meijer’, an advisory organisation concerned with the quality of educational building. He occasionally teaches architectural design at Delft University of Technology and various other schools of architecture in the Netherlands and lectures regularly.
